ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, my practice moves between project-based material research and deep, ongoing thematic explorations. In my project work, I experiment with the unique textures of drawing across diverse surfaces - from paper and textiles to the cellular, chemical nature of analog film.
This material curiosity grounds my deeper, more intuitive work, which unfolds in long-term, ongoing series. In Fragments of Being, I examine the contradictions of contemporary existence through creating tension between organic and concrete forms. This fascination with thresholds and transformation finds it´s most intense expression in my Blue Hour series. Centered on the fleeting twilight where day and night blur, these works dive deep into the spaces in between, capturing the precise, quiet moment where the invisible is rendered visible.
Ultimately, my drawings offer conjecture rather than fact, favoring the unseen over the obvious, and intuitive doubt over rigid certainty. By limiting my palette to black, white, shades of grey, and blue, I strip away the superfluous to uncover the essence of each piece - much like the delicate, bare skeleton of a leaf.
